4. I don't think it is ethically acceptable to change people's appearance like how they did in these videos. I can understand if they changed one small thing like covering up blemishes but nothing extreme like the videos. They completely changed the way the model looked and I don't think that is okay.

5. I think it would be even more ethically wrong to do this if the model was modeling for any campaign about natural beauty or anything like that. Even though I think it is always unacceptable it would be even worse in this case because they wouldn't even be showing the model's natural beauty.

6. Some changes that are okay are covering up small blemishes, changing the models hair color, or something very small like that. I don't think it is okay to completely alter the models face or body by making them skinner, fuller, or taller.

7. Fashion photography is always about fashion and models while photojournalism could be about anything and doesn't have to have models in it. Photojournalism also always has an article to go with it while fashion photography doesn't.

8. Fashion photography is not always close to the reality because they alter the bodies and faces of the model so that is definitely not real. Photojournalism is almost always very real because they don't really have anything they could alter or change. I don't think fashion photography is very ethical at all because  it is almost never the truth.

9. I think you are showing us these videos so that we can see how much you can do in photoshop and to see what fashion photography is all about.

10. I don't think any of these videos are about men because there is usually more of an issue with photographers photoshopping girls facies and bodies. Girls are also usually more self-conscious about their bodies so it is more of a big deal.

"Benjamin Lowy’s photograph of Floyd Mayweather wasn’t intended to be a cover; he took this shot for what we call a “technique shot.” Yet when we saw the defending champ demonstrating his famous shoulder roll, we knew it had to be the cover of our Fight Issue, one with profiles and separate covers of Mayweather and his opponent Canelo Alvarez. We decided to go with a bright white background—a rarity for The Magazine—to contrast the fighter’s dark skin, showing off the beads of sweat on his forehead and intense concentration in his eyes. We offer this cover as an athlete who is the embodiment of his craft in a rare moment when boxing rose to the top of the sports conversation."

Critique: I really liked this cover because you can really see the concentration in his eyes and you can see how hard he was working because of the sweat. You can obviously see that Mayweather is a boxer just by looking at the picture because the photographer captured his boxing gloves and even the fist swinging at him which I think is very rare and cool. I also really liked how the made the magazine have a light background so that it contrasts really well with his skin and he stands out more. The lighting of this picture is really good because it is just perfect to see all of the details in his face. I think it was a really good idea to have the cover be black and white because it adds more emotion to the picture and it is really appealing to the eye.

Early Magazine Covers didn't usually have an actual cover, they usually used the from page as like the title and table of contents. Most people who made magazine covers tried to style them after a book cover so they were pretty boring. Some covers just had an illustration that mainly related to what was in the book but it didn't reveal anything specific about what was inside.

The Poster Cover was mainly just a very large picture or illustration with a title. It looked as if it was supposed to be printed out and hung on a wall instead of being read. They would sometimes also have smaller cover line that would further explain what the magazine was actually about. Poster covers still appear sometimes on magazines that are already very confident with the amount of readers they get.

Pictures Married to Type covers were mostly just a picture of the model or subject with the title and few cover lines. There weren't too many words on the cover but the words that were on there didn't describe the articles inside as you might think. Most of the words on the covers were actually names of the people who contributed to the magazine and the title.

In The Forest of Words covers are the normal covers that we usually see. They have a lot of words on the cover as well as a main big picture of the model or subject. The words on the cover are the title and smaller subtitles that describe some of the bigger articles and content that are actually inside of the magazine so you  know what you are reading.

American Soldier NOT FINISHED

1.

A: I think the most powerful picture in this slideshow is the one where Ian is walking towards the plane to leave. I think it is very powerful because you can see the emotion on his face because it is finally real and he is actually leaving for war.

B:
Set 1: Image 1- Image 9
Set 2: Image 10-Image 50
Set 3: Image 51-Image 75
Set 4: Image 76-Image 82

I think Set 2 is the most powerful because you can see the transformation in Ian's life as you see how hard it is for him and all of the things that he goes through before he actually gets deployed.

C: The images really work together to tell a story because you can see all of the steps and stages that Ian went through to join the army and all of the training he had to go through. It is real powerful because you see all of the emotions from his return and his leaving.

3.

A: For the photos where Ian is the main subject, the captions are usually written in present tense.

B: The captions enhance the photographs because they help you understand what is going on in the picture so it can help tell the story of Ian a little better.
